On May 10, 2011, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education approved the naming of High School #13 after the first Latina Supreme Court Justice of the United States Sonia M. Sotomayor.

As we have all watched the beautiful new high school on San Fernando Road be built, we are now very excited to learn that the catchment area for this school includes children who live within the catchment area of Mount Washington Elementary School.

Construction for the new high school (Central Region High School #13) on San Fernando Road is nearly completed, and selection of the instructional approaches is in the final stage. This new campus will relieve overcrowding at Marshall, Eagle Rock and Franklin high schools, and we understand that Mount Washington teenagers will be included in the catchment area for this school.
