Pupusa Party!
This year for the Summer Fun meeting we have invited some members of the local Salvadoran community to provide refreshments and entertainment. This means fabulous pupusas and music. Everyone in Los Angeles benefits from the many, many ethnic cultures of people that settle here, and on July 17 we will learn at bit about the Angelenos that have immigrated from El Salvador. If you have not tasted Pupusas, you are in for treat; there will be both vegetarian and meat options. Come taste the food and drinks and catch up with your fellow Mount Washington friends and neighbors.

We are excited to present the owner of Mimeos; Solar Energy Installers, Efficiency Consultants and Sustainability Educators. Matt Moses, the owner of this company, was referred to us by home-owners on the hill, who used his firm to get solar panels installed. Matt will focus his discussion on solar panel installation, specifically including: how solar works, what make a home a good candidate for solar, the incredible drop in prices the last few years, how rebates and tax credits work, cost, and Return On Investment (ROI), among other things.

The main event at the January meeting is going to be a slide show by the MWA Community Garden Group. They will give us a pictorial of a neighborhood front yard that is being turned into a garden. They will also give us an update on what you should be planting now; and some free goodies, like seeds. Connie Rohman, who is a volunteer for the new and exciting front yard garden, will share the fun she is having. Come and learn.

Panel Discussion – Siqueiros Mural
It seems like everywhere one turns in LA this fall, there are events and exhibits about "Siqueiros", David Alfaro Siqueiros, one of the three great Mexican muralists. There is an exhibit at the Autry about the artist, an exhibit of his art at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach and local galleries are also exhibiting his work. The City of Los Angeles has a history with this famous artist; we have a mural that he painted in the heart of the city.
