Smith on Wry: Jack Smith, Columnist for Our Times

March 30th outing to the Huntington Library to see:

Smith on Wry: Jack Smith, Columnist for Our Times

Our late Los Angeles Times columnist Jack Smith “was one of the most prominent L.A. newspapermen of the 20th century. His archive was donated to The Huntington where it serves as a major resource for research in the history of Los Angeles journalism. The exhibit features approximately 50 items from the collection, including original newspaper columns, drafts and galleys of his books, correspondence and fan mail, photographs, and other materials.”   Following the Jack Smith archive exhibit, we will also see the new Chinese Garden:  Liu Fang Yuan, the Garden of Flowing Fragrance.

“Inspired by the centuries-old Chinese tradition of private gardens designed for scholarly pursuits, Liu Fang Yuan combines the scenic beauty of nature with the expressiveness of literature to give deeper meaning to the landscape. A walk through its paths enriches mind and spirit alike.”
