President’s Message: Finances
We’re Not Broke!
After 50 years, thanks to your support, the Mount Washington Association will continue to do our best for our community, our environment and our kids. Our finances continue to be healthy. But, as always, we need your help. First, remember to renew your membership. Second, and just as importantly, help us make sure that every dollar we spend goes to a cause worthy of our support.
So, please plan on coming to the March Membership Meeting, where in addition to a great program, we would love to hear your ideas as we plan for spending in 2011. Your board has recently decided to make a $1,000 contribution to support field trips and after-school physical education at Mt. Washington Elementary School, and we would love to hear your ideas in support of La Casita Verde and Aldama Elementary School, which we also have a tradition of supporting.
We also have a long history of financially supporting and volunteering for beautification projects, most recently the Elyria entrance to Elyria Canyon Park, as well as art programs and community gardens.
Of course there are other places we could make a difference, but we can’t support everyone all the time. And that’s where you come in. Please come to the meeting, enjoy the program, and let us know what’s on your mind.
It Takes More Than Money
Even though we have a reasonable amount of money, if spent carefully, your Mount Washington Association is also always looking for volunteers – writing newsletter articles, helping in our food collection efforts, as part of our garden committee, in beautification efforts, supporting the Jack Smith Walk – all of our community activities. So we’ll also be hoping to hear about your volunteer ideas for the next year.
I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing from you at the next meeting!
