Announcements

• Treasurer Bennie Padilla reminded members of the upcoming MWA Annual Food Collection for the Needy. Bring non-perishable goods, especially proteins and fiber, to the northwest corner of Elyria Drive and San Rafael Avenue, on Saturday, December 10, between 9 AM and 12 noon. The food that is collected will be donated to the LA County Northeast Wellness Center, on Figueroa Street, in Highland Park.
• Board of Directors Member Lynette Kampe reported on local environmental developments and announced an upcoming Elyria Drive beautification effort.
• Board of Directors Member Carol Jacques directed the attention of members to the openings of several new restaurants in Highland Park and Eagle Rock.

Open-Mic Session

Members expressed their opinions on MWA programs for calendar year 2012. They also commented on local community events.

State Senator Update

State Senator Kevin de León greeted the members and thanked them for attending the meeting. He gave a report on recent legislative activities and responded to members' questions.
